The Blair County District Attorney’s office announced Friday that 46-year-old Ferdy Crutcher has plead guilty to all charges against him in the case, from last August, in which he was accused of kidnapping and raping a 15-month-old toddler and abandoning him in an Altoona alley.
Authorities say Crutcher plead guilty to all charges Friday, which included attempted homicide, kidnapping and rape of a child.
Police say on August 11, 2019, officers found the child unresponsive in an alley near Lexington Ave.
Investigators say Crutcher was identified as the suspect due to his DNA, which was already in the police system due to a prior conviction in 1993 in which he plead guilty to raping a 17-month-old girl in Johnstown.
The Altoona Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police Crime Lab, Blair County Children and Family Services, and the Blair County Children’s Advocacy Center all assisted in the investigation.
Blair County District Attorney Peter Weeks will be holding a press conference, at 3 p.m., at his office, to formally announced the guilty plea.
