PINCKNEYVILLE

A former Washington Park fireman has been charged with five counts of possessing child pornography.

Timothy E. Hedrick 30, a resident of Cutler, Illinois was indicted in Perry County Monday.

Each of the five counts allege that Hedrick had pornographic images of a person he knew was under the age of 13 stored on his computer. The last four counts say photos in his possession show a child in the actual act or simulation of sex. The final count further describes images that include nudity and “lewd exhibition.”

If convicted, Hedrick faces up to seven years in prison in addition to fines of up to $100,000 per count. He’ll also face supervised release from three years to life.

Bail was set at $200,000.

Washington Park Fire Chief Sharon Davis said Hedrick was released from his duties at the department last month after roughly a year of employment.

According to a press release, the pornography was discovered during search of Hedrick’s home on March 3. The case was investigated by the Illinois Attorney General’s office and the Perry County Drug Task Force.

“Child pornography leaves victims and their families with lifelong scars,” Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul said in a statement. “My office is committed to working with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and local law enforcement to track down and stop the individuals who perpetuate these horrible crimes.”

North Idaho sex offender caught in Florida after 21 years on the run, police say

3/9/2021

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — The last time anyone in North Idaho saw Philip Faris Jenison was more than two decades ago.

He was convicted for molestation in 1995 and required by law to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison. He didn’t. Instead, Jenison fled.

On Friday, U.S. Marshals caught up with the 75-year-old in Florida, according to a report.

“The U.S Marshals Service remains relentless in its pursuit of sex offenders who attempt to evade justice for the crimes they commit against children,” said U.S. Marshal Bill Berger of the Middle District of Florida in a prepared statement.

Jenison was Idaho’s longest absconded sex offender, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

According to the Idaho State Police sex offender registry, Jenison committed lewd conduct with a minor child in North Idaho in December 1995.

He served time in prison and when he was released, he was required to register with the National Sex Offender Registry. According to WFLA in Tampa, Fla., he was living under the alias of Phillip Kane in Pasco County.

Jenison was arrested in Dixie County and taken to jail, WFLA reported.

He will be extradited to Idaho, officials said. He also faces charges of failure to register as a sex offender in both Pasco and Dixie counties.

“Due to great police work by the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, Detective Todd Jackson and in collaboration with the US Marshals, he was tracked and apprehended,” read an email to The Press.

Bessemer man in possession of 1,295 child porn images gets 15-plus years in federal prison

March 9, 2021

A Bessemer man has been sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison after he was found in position of more than 1,300 child porn images and videos.

Michael Lawrence Garcia-Torres, 29, was sentenced to 188 months in prison followed by a lifetime of supervised released, according to a joint announcement by Northern District of Alabama U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent in Charge Katrina W. Berger.

U.S. District Court Judge Annemarie C. Axon handed down the sentence Tuesday. Garcia-Torres pleaded guilty in September to one-count of transportation of child pornography and one-count of possession of child pornography. The conviction will require him to register as a sex offender.

According to the plea agreement, Dropbox reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that images and videos of child pornography were uploaded between Sept. 21, 2017 and Feb. 15, 2018, to an account belonging to Garcia-Torres. As a result, a federal search warrant was obtained for his Dropbox account which revealed 405 images and 19 videos of child pornography. Federal agents also obtained a search warrant for his residence and found Garcia-Torres in possession of 1,295 images and 85 videos of child pornography on his electronic devices.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations investigated the case, along with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Bessemer Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney R. Leann White prosecuted the case.

“Today’s sentence is the result of the continued dedication by our prosecutors and law enforcement partners to protect the victims of child exploitation,” Escalona said. “I encourage anyone who may have information about possible child sexual exploitation, including posts on social media, to report it to the NCMEC at CyberTipline.org or by calling 1-800-THE-LOST.”

“Child exploitative material is a major threat to our community and something we must all work to eradicate,” Berger said. “Every time these images are viewed or shared it continues to victimize and steal the innocence of the subject.’’

Paroled murderer, working as janitor, raped girl in Loop doctor’s office

3/7/2021

A paroled murderer raped a 14-year-old girl in a closet at a Loop medical office building where he worked as a janitor while the victim’s parents met with a doctor, prosecutors alleged this week.

Judge Susana Ortiz ordered Anthony McClore, 61, held in lieu of $750,000 bail.

McClore was found guilty of two counts of murder in 1996 and received concurrent 45-year prison sentences, according to Illinois Department of Corrections records. He was released in 2018 after serving half of that time and went to work for a janitorial service, his public defender said.

On November 23, McClore was working as a janitor when he offered a soda to the 14-year-old girl as she waited for her parents in a medical building on the 1100 block of South Delano Court, according to Assistant State’s Attorney James Murphy and CPD records. He then took the girl to a room where he offered her money for sex, tried to kiss her, and gave her his phone number, Murphy said.

McClore saw the girl again one week later when she and her parents returned to the doctor’s office.

Once again, he took her to a room and offered her money to do sexual things, Murphy alleged. The girl initially allowed him to perform a sex act because she wanted money, but McClore then raped her while putting his hand around her neck and mouth, Murphy said.

McClore repeatedly told the girl that he is a sex addict during the attack and said she should just let him do it as she tried to push him off, according to Murphy.

The girl outcried to her parents on December 5 and went to a counselor with her mother the next day. Both women called the number McClore allegedly gave to the victim and recorded their conversation with him.

McClore denied the sexual allegations during the call. Instead, he said, the girl sought him out because she wanted to have her parents murdered, and he has experience with such things, Murphy said.

The counselor contacted state authorities and Chicago police. Officers arrested McClore on March 2.

He told police that he knew the girl from his job at the doctor’s office and again claimed she wanted to hire him to kill her parents, Murphy continued. Prosecutors charged him with criminal sexual assault by force and aggravated criminal sexual assault abuse.

McClore’s attorney told Judge Ortiz that he moved from the city to Kankakee this year and said he now works for a popcorn factory in Chicago. He has 12 children and 45 grandchildren, the attorney said.

“Why a 61-year-old man who’s a janitor at a doctor’s office would provide a 14-year-old with a phone number is beyond me,” Ortiz said after hearing the state’s allegations.

She ordered McClore to go on electronic monitoring if he can post a $75,000 deposit bond to get out of jail.
